About Equilibria

Good work needs good conditions.

Equilibria helps nonprofits and associations strengthen the decisions, relationships, and systems behind their services. We work with organizations and their leaders to improve how the work gets done and how it serves the community.

Our story

Experience put to work for your mission.

Equilibria grew out of more than 20 years of nonprofit and association leadership, with experience across strategy, governance, finance, operations, membership, and programs.

Those years taught some useful lessons. A plan needs people and resources to carry it out. A board decision needs clear responsibilities. A new service needs a realistic account of what it will require and whom it will reach.

Organizational problems often cross these lines. A service delay may involve staffing, an unclear approval process, or information that never reaches the people who need it. Understanding those connections helps organizations address the cause and improve the work.

Equilibria brings that perspective to consulting: careful attention to how the organization functions, respect for community knowledge, and recommendations that account for the demands on leaders and staff.

A countryside path leading through open fields

Our practice

Think it through. Put it to work.

We begin with the question you face and the conditions surrounding it: your resources, your history, your working relationships, and the needs of the people you serve. Strategy, governance, operations, and culture all inform the work.

01 / UNDERSTAND

Get the full account.

We listen to the people closest to the work and examine the decisions, resources, and history behind the question you bring.

02 / DECIDE

Make the choices explicit.

We work through the options and their consequences. We name the tradeoffs, responsibilities, and resources each choice requires.

03 / PUT TO WORK

Build it into the workday.

We agree on who does what, how you’ll know it’s working, and when to reconsider. We connect the decisions to staff time, budgets, and everyday responsibilities.

Our commitments

How we work matters.

These commitments guide every engagement, from the first conversation to the work your team carries forward.

Equity from the beginning

We consider whose knowledge shapes a decision, who holds authority, and how the result will affect people with different experiences and resources.

Systems that serve people

We examine workloads, responsibilities, information, and decision processes so staff can spend their time on work that serves the mission.

Capacity your team can use

We develop tools and practices that fit your staff time, skills, and resources. Your team should understand how to use them and when to adjust them.

Transparent partnership

We explain our recommendations, name the tradeoffs, and discuss constraints openly. You should know the reasoning behind the work.

An executive’s understanding of the work.

Kelli C. Bohannon brings more than 20 years of nonprofit and association leadership to Equilibria. Her experience across executive strategy, governance, finance, operations, and programs gives her a broad understanding of what organizations need to deliver on their mission.

She understands the pressures that sit behind a decision: board expectations, limited staff time, financial commitments, and a community counting on the organization. Her work connects those responsibilities so leaders can judge their options and act with a fuller understanding of the consequences.

Kelli asks direct questions, examines the reasoning, and brings difficult conversations back to the decisions people need to make. She helps leaders recognize patterns, work through competing priorities, and turn an agreement into responsibilities people can carry out.

Her consulting draws on years of seeing what helps organizations function well and what gets in their way. Clients can expect thoughtful judgment, candid conversation, and practical attention to the quality of their services and the people delivering them.

As a coach and meditation leader, Kelli also offers restorative support for community leaders, organizers, and people working for justice through Rest & Resolve.
